Pastor’s Page

Pastor Ray McCalla is a native of rural Clarinda, Iowa, where he was nurtured in the Faith at Trinity Presbyterian Church.  After graduating from high school, Ray matriculated to Northwest Missouri State University where he studied psychology and music.  Following college, Ray enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed a Master of Arts in community-agency counseling, focused on college student life and career counseling.

During graduate school, Ray experienced a spiritual awakening and a subsequent call to ministry.  He completed his Master of Divinity, with a major in Bible, at the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.

Ray met his wife, Rachelle, a native of Norfolk, Nebraska, while they were working at Calvin Crest Camp, Conference, and Retreat Center.  Rachelle completed her B.A. at Hastings College and M.Div. at UDTS, as well.

Ray has served churches in Scales Mound and Apple River, Illinois, and Bayfield, Wisconsin.  He has served FPC Wayne since March of 2005.  Rachelle is an author and writes books for Love Inspired Suspense.

He and Rachelle have four children and make their home in Wayne.  Ray is active in Kiwanis International, Teammates mentoring, the Wayne Association of Congregations and Ministers (WACAM), and the Wayne Public Library’s preschool reading program.  He blogs at Sinaiticus.
